she shouldn’t be mad. it’s only $6.00. however, if you think it would better the situation (and you don’t mind) go 50/50 and give her three dollars. if she makes a fuss, and you give her the money, she will probably realize that it IS only six dollars, and that she kind of made a fool of herself by getting so worked up.

I think you did the right thing by bring this misunderstanding about the tip to your manager’s attention. It was a confusing situation and you did right by asking your manager. Personally, i think he made the right decision by giving you the tip money. If she is mad, oh well, she should have been paying more attention to her customer is she wanted a tip too. You don’t have to say anything to her, if she is mad she will most likely say something to you. In which case you can tell her that you felt you did the right thing by letting the manager handle the dispute. There is nothing else you have to do. You did the right thing and shouldn’t feel bad.

Just break the ice with her and apologize for any misunderstandings, and it was only a tip. Tell her we should move on from this and forget this ever happened. If she still seems mad at you, just give her the tip and move on. Obviously by that point, she isn’t the kind of person you want to be friends with anyways If she go THAT upset over something that little
