Fine Woodworking had an article on this YEARS ago, but now I can't find it listed there. I also need to find where to get the hardware for the sticks so I can screw them together.

Cue sticks are not simple lathe-turned objects. Go here for the details: http://www.poolcueinfo.com/pool%20cue%20construction.html

I am going to sell my pool table but I have no idea how to measure it to give the size. Outside the rails? Middle of the pockets? Inside the bumpers? HELP!

There are 4 common sizes. 3.5 x 7 (barbox), 4 X 8 (normal home table), 4.25 X 8.5, and 4.5 X 9 (tournament tables) and I believe that's the measurment of the inside rails.

Found a free pool table, 1" single piece of slate in a 3rd floor room. I am pretty knowledgeable with the dismantling and refinishing, but how would you get it down three flights? I hear that piece of stone could be up to 1000lbs. The table is free and I am not willing to spend more than $150 which pretty much covers new felt and bumpers that I will assemble. It had to get up there somehow, but getting it down seems like quite a challenge. Any ideas are welcome.

maybe they originally took it through a window.

The room is uneven both ways. Can a pool table be easily used using leg levellers?

Leg levelers allow you to adjust the height of each leg of the table independently. As much as a couple inches in some case. Most levelers attach to the bottom of the legs and have non-skid rubber feet to keep the table from moving. Since you can adjust each leg independently, it doesn't really matter how crooked your floor might be as long as it's not sloping by more than a few inches for the length of the pool table.

I am hoping to find something like a "rail extender" that would continue the rail over the pockets, allowing the balls to bounce off instead of going into the pockets.

Here are some sources to start with:

I love the game, but I live in a small town and I've been unsuccessful at finding a teacher.

Many phenominal players have had coaches to teach them mechanics and such. That doesn't exactly make them 'posers'. Like any other task, learning pool is better when you have a mentor who can give you valuable tips and help you correct your errors before they become habit.

If you're in America and want to learn to play pool go to the BCA (Billiard Congress of America) website and look for an instructor close to you. Again if you're in America go to the USBA (United States Billiard Association) website if you're looking for an instructor for 3 cushion billiards.
