Does anyone know what the black dot is called on a billiards table?

It is called the footspot. It is the center of the footstring, the imaginary line accross the table at the second diamond from the rack end of the table. The footspot is where the first ball in the rack is placed.

Just fyi, at the other end of the table that line is called the headstring. This is accross the breaking end of the table from second diamond. The area inside that line is commonly called "the kitchen".
