Am space planning a room and need to figure out how many feet I need beyond the table so the pool cues dont hit the wall.
Thanks!

Add ten feet to the dimensions of your pool table. For example if your table is 4' x 8' then the minimum size room would be 14' x 18' . This gives you 5 feet of room all the way around the table which is enough room to shoot any shot with a standard size 58'' pool cue. Of course a bigger room would mean more comfort but this is the minimum. Good luck to ya!

I accidently spilt a glass of red wine on the felt of my pool table. Is there any way to get out the stain without replacing the felt? Someone told me oxiclean but i don't want to ruin the whole table if they are wrong. Does anyone know what I should use?

You can try to steam clean it with a steam cleaner put some oxiclean in the water. If that dosent work you will have to replace the felt. Good luck!!

I asked this question yesterday but I got only one response. This question is for bar owners, managers, or someone who can give a good estimate. This number will vary because several factors, please just provide an average for the 7 days of the week. I am planning on opening a bar with some pool tables and I would like to know about how much I can profit from every table. Thanks.

Same ans avg per day 35 to 60 its really hard to give an exact # for a bar It depends on your patrons .Some bars dont do 10 a day some do a hundred.I have had 3 bars and they all avg $125 to $150 per week per table. I have even had free pool as a draw for other products -Food -Drinks -ect…. You will just have to feel it out .

We want to have a pool table moved to a different room in our home. I heard that we'd have to buy another felt top for the table. It's a pool table that originally was only $400 from Sears… and cost $300 to put together. I'm wondering would it cost about $300 or maybe $600 because it's being taken apart and put back together?
Even if it is not slate but the alternative stuff?

Yes, 400-600 because of the slate and they have to make sure it is level.

How big is standard size professional billiards pool table, the ones the pros use on tv?

They play on 9 ft. tables (4.5 ft. x 9 ft.).

Unless you're talking about snooker, in which case it's 6 ft. by 12 ft.

illinois has a statewide smoking ban, starting jan 1st 08. i am a non-smoker myself, and do not agree with it. I believe if anything, each establishment should have to set up and maintain smoke eaters, to the square foot of their rooms. Poolhalls and bars with tables and without tables, cannot take this hit! i know a few of my really good friends who enjoy playing, will stay at home and play, so they can have their cigs. There are many many small hometown bars, which i see them loosing 75% of their business because of this. I know some will say, they can stepoutside and smoke, which is true, but for the trouble of going outside every 15 minutes, fighting the weather, unsafe outside at some places. People will get tired of that, and make a habit of staying home, or to a friends house. What about leagues? At 1996 us open, i bet more than 1/2 of the players stood outside, just to smoke everyday. can billiards take another hit at this point in struggling time. What will happen to bca pop?
Im up for any suggestions, thoughts on the matter. Im not sure of other states laws about smoking, but it will hit your state soon as well. Im very curious and nervous fot the SPORT:), to how this will play out. My very best friends run almost all of tournys, and huge!!! league. i will get the percentages form them, and look up the % of bca to calculate the drop in % of players, off next year. Fine is $100-$250 per offence, and fine gets bigger the more times you get caught. Only realistic option to make everyone happy, is to have smoke eater standard that must be followed? because there is no way the government, will change a smoking ban bill, once it has passed, and inforced. Is my smokeater standard idea a solution? i dont know, but i would love to petetion the idea, in a short film, to the government. im willing 2 start a website, if people will help, and get the word out. google ZIMS RACK mike or danny will help im sure, as they run huge leagues, and mike makes custom cues.

There has been a smoking ban in effect for a few years where I live.

At first it definitely had a negative impact on business. After an adjustment period of maybe a few months I would say it was pretty much back to normal. In fact a lot of places do much better business now than before. Leagues are also doing better than ever as well.

Many non-smokers started becoming regulars that would not have done so earlier, and the die hard fans of the game will continue to play and will get used to the smoking ban. I am a smoker and at first I hated the ban, but I am so used to it now I can hardly remember what it was like to smoke in the pool halls before.

The only problem is if only some places are forced to go non-smoking, and others are not. If everyone is on an even playing field people will adjust.

I'm looking for a Billiards table that can be broken down for storage or to travel with. I have seen ones where the legs fold up, but the table is still 8 feet by 4 feet. I was wondering if anyone knows where I can buy one that can be broken down and folded up to be put away for storage, or travel. Something that possibly has a leaf in it, or something of that sort.

Any help would be appreciated.

As a billiards table is one slab of slate, I do no think you can get any folding table.
There is no way you can get the two halves joining up good enough for the ball not to be influenced.

You could look for a small size table, there are some that are half size or 'toy' size.

I have a physics project to do, and my friend wants to do something with billiards aka "pool".

Just wondering what kind of physics is involved with pool…considering all aspects of the game (such as english, banks, power, felt, etc). I would really appreciate it!

FORGET IT ALTOGETHER!!! Honestly!!
In pool, billiards and snooker, u'll be working ur nuts off!! Could you work out, the cloth resistivity, the force made with each shot , 'top', 'middle', 'stun-right & left', 'screw back', also possibly with stun and side on it!! Give it up!! That's without working out air resistance, chalk application, 'kick' , the cushion tension and ball weight material and material, under the felt!!
Do 'AIR-HOCKEY'!!!! Much easier with less coefficients
gd luck

Does anyone know what the black dot is called on a billiards table?

It is called the footspot. It is the center of the footstring, the imaginary line accross the table at the second diamond from the rack end of the table. The footspot is where the first ball in the rack is placed.

Just fyi, at the other end of the table that line is called the headstring. This is accross the breaking end of the table from second diamond. The area inside that line is commonly called "the kitchen".
