first do a small area at a time by rubbing with an Ice cube. This will make wax hard and brittle. sweep as much as you can with medium bristle brush. The lay on a couple layers of a paper towel and heat with an iron to melt wax and draw it into towel. Again, Small are at a time. Then kill the kids. Just kidding.

Yup I agree with with john... Paper towel and hot iron. I've used this process before and it works quite well!

You might want to try a dry cloth on top of the wax area, and then iron over the area. The hot iron will melt the wax and the cloth will absorb most of the wax. If you don't get all the wax off the first time, redo it with a clean cloth. Use an old towel, as you will probably have to throw it away after you are done. There are a lot of household cleaning agents that will remove any residue of the wax. Just read the labels to see if they clean up wax.

Sorry , you need to replace the felt . By the time you get the wax out there will be no felt left. But fear not , even the average person can replace the felt at a fraction of cost of a pro . Lay heavy duty paper towel on top of wax. Run hot iron over paper towel. Wax will melt and paper towels will soak up wax.Start with lower temp. and slowly work your way up until wax starts melting.
